Art / Creative Server

Showcase channels by medium, critique threads, prompts/challenges, tools/resources sharing.

Art Discords work when there's a clear flow from sharing to critique to challenge. This template separates the three. Showcase channels are split by medium so a 3D modeler's work doesn't scroll past in a feed of digital paintings. Critique lives in a forum channel — each piece becomes its own thread, so feedback on one work doesn't bury feedback on another. Weekly prompts give the server a rhythm; without one, art servers slowly silt up with the same five regulars while everyone else lurks.

Rules starter

  1. Credit other artists when sharing reference or inspiration.
  2. No AI-generated art (or post it ONLY in the AI channel — your call).
  3. NSFW art goes in spoiler-tagged or in dedicated NSFW channel only.
  4. Critique constructively.

When to use this template

Use this template if your server is centered on members making things — artists, designers, illustrators, 3D modelers, photographers, makers. If it's more about appreciating art than making it, drop the critique forum and the showcase splits and use the Community template instead. If you're running a critique-only server (no showcase, just feedback), the Study template adapts well — replace "Silent Study" with "Live Sketch" and the same accountability mechanics work.

Common mistakes when setting this up

Two mistakes flatten art servers: putting all art in one channel (the slowest medium gets buried) and skipping the AI-art rule. Settle the AI-art question early — either ban it, give it its own channel, or allow it openly. Whatever you pick, write it down. Servers that leave the rule vague end up with a fight every six weeks. Also: critique-requests with no instructions become a graveyard ("looking for feedback" with no specifics). Set a template — what medium, what tools, what aspect they want feedback on — and pin it in the forum description.
